Celebrating our Seniors 2020:
Marina Delaluna
Marina is a 4-year varsity player and a 2-year captain. We quickly found her a home in center field because of her speed, arm strength, and take-charge attitude. Very little drops into the outfield with her out there. She is also one of the strongest hitters on our team, generally batting from #3 to #5 in the line-up. One of our teams’ power hitters, this season she was sporting a .455 batting average and 3 of her 5 hits were extra base hits. She also hit the only homerun of the 2020 season. She was a member of the 2017 NCS Championship team, she earned All-League honors in 2018 and 2019, and she won the 2019 MVP Offense Award (BA .438, SLG .726, 32 Hits, 18 Runs, 24 RBI, 12 Doubles, 3 HR, 12 SB) for our team. Additionally, she maintained a 4.40 GPA through the season! Next year she will be attending Trinity University in San Antonio on a softball scholarship.
Amber Desena
Amber is a 4-year varsity player and was named a Co-Captain this year. Amber started at the “hot corner” third base position for the past three seasons. With her quick reflexes, strong arm, and “nothing gets by me” attitude, she was one of the back bones of our infield unit. This year, she moved into the starting shortstop position, and made some excellent defensive plays in the short time that she played there. Amber is also a powerhouse offensively for our program. She earned the 2017 Most Offensive Player Award (.432 BA, 38 Hits, 32 Runs, 21 RBI, 14 BB, .505 OB%, 5- 2B, 2- 3B, 1- HR) as a freshman, and has consistently been in the top 5 of multiple offensive categories each successive season. No doubt this year would have been more of the same as she ended the 2020 season batting .533, with 8 hits in 15 at bats, 2 doubles, and 9 runs scored. Amber has earned All-league honors 3 times and was a member of the 2017 NCS Championship team! She will be attending University of Iowa next year on a softball scholarship.
Marissa Durst
This is Marissa’s 3rd season on varsity. She is a “jack of all trades” being able to play any infield or outfield position with consistency. Last year she started a majority of games at shortstop, and this year most likely would have been playing either right or left field. Marissa is a positive kid who works hard every day. She is constantly giving her all and loves to dive and get dirty for a ball. In 2019, Marissa won the Hustle Award on our team. She is also a whiz in the classroom and earned a 4.80 through both the Basketball and Softball seasons this year. Next year she plans to play softball for DVC and then transfer to UC Davis where she will pursue a degree in physiology.
Camille Lohse
Camille is a 3-year varsity player and a 2-year captain. As a sophomore, Camille played the majority of her games in left field. For the past 2 seasons, she earned a role as our starting catcher and she excelled at that position earning the 2019 Golden Glove Award (Fielding Percentage .966, TC 116, PO 105, 7 A, 4 E). She is one of the hardest workers that we have had in our program. Her work ethic and her positive attitude make her one of the most respected players on the team. Camille had a tremendous start to the 2020 season sporting the highest batting average through 4 games at .583 and she had 7 hits in 12 at bats. Additionally, she earned the 2018 Coaches Award and All-League accolades in 2019. Next year she will be attending DVC and playing softball for them as well.
Rhianna Majarucon
Rhianna is a 2-year varsity player. She has a quiet on-field personality, but in Rhianna’s case, her actions speak louder than her words. Her speed in the outfield allows her to track fly balls well, and her knowledge of the game has allowed her to play multiple positions for our team. No matter where she plays, she is always giving 100% effort. She is an aggressive base runner and scored 14 runs for us last season. This year she finished the season batting .333. Additionally, she earned the 2019 Coaches Award. Next year she plans on attending the University of Nevada Reno to pursue Nursing.
Madi Mays
Madi is a 3-year varsity player. She has played many innings at 3rd base, but her main position is as a starting pitcher. Defensively, she has one of the strongest arms on the team, and she won the 2017 Golden Glove Award (.989 Fielding %, 89 TC, 24 PO, 64 A, 1 E). As a sophomore, she earned the 1st Team All-League MVP Pitcher Award. This year, she was pitching exceptionally well. Through 4 games, she had an ERA of .824, 20 strike outs in 17 innings, and in her final pitched game of the season vs. Monte Vista, she threw a No-Hitter! Offensively, Madi is one of the most feared hitters in our league and she generally bats #3 to #5 in the line-up. This year she finished the season with a .455 batting average, 5 hits in 11 at bats, 3 doubles, and 8 RBI’s (the most on the team). Other accolades include All-League Honors in 2017 and she was a member of the 2017 NCS Championship Team. She has outstanding academics as well and earned a 5.00 GPA throughout both her Volleyball and Softball seasons. Next year she will be attending Harvard and will be playing softball for them.
Elena Oceguera
Elena, aka “Jeter”, is a 4-year varsity player. She has been a starter at 2nd base for three years and has also played right field. She is a dedicated player who has shown consistency and poise at a middle infield position. As a lefty with speed, her versatility at the plate being able to bunt, slap, or hit with solid contact at will has been a huge asset to the CHS offensive strategy. In 2017, she earned 1st team All-league recognition and she also was a member of the 2017 NCS Championship team. Her plans for next year are undecided, but she is looking at attending either UC Santa Barbara or DVC.
Alexia Rivera
Alexia transferred to Concord from YV during her sophomore year and she has made quite an impact since she arrived. She stood out as one of the leaders on the JV team, and her work ethic and positive attitude led to her earning the Coaches Award that year. Her junior year, she earned a spot on the varsity team. She has played every outfield position and her speed on the bases as a courtesy or pinch runner has earned us many extra runs. Next year she will be attending Sonoma State and will be majoring in Liberal Studies to pursue a career as an elementary school teacher.
Makenzie Stange
Makenzie is a 3-year varsity player has played multiple positions including outfield, third base, catcher, and most recently 1st base her senior year. Her versatility as a ball player has made her an invaluable asset to our program. She leads by example with a no-nonsense attitude when on the field and is not afraid to lay out for a ball. One of her most impressive plays as an outfielder was against Northgate. She made a diving catch at her ankles! In 2017 she won the Hustle Award. She made the All-League team in both 2018 and 2019. Next year she will be attending the University of Saint Katherine and will be receiving scholarship money to play softball.
